  • KSUM, Creativiti Council Join Hands for Workshop on Innovative Ideas in Palliative Care

    KOCHI:
    Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and Creativiti Council will be jointly organizing a three-day workshop on generating and promoting innovative ideas and prototypes in palliative and elderly care from November 22 in Thrissur.

    The workshop, titled ‘Creative I –Makethon’, will focus on improving life through innovations in palliative care, with emphasis on more than 20 pressing needs , including transfer and mobility. These issues have been identified and documented from various districts of Kerala.

    The workshop will be held at Thompson’s Enterprises, Industrial Estate, Athani, Thrissur. Based in Thrissur, Creativiti Council is a non-profit company committed to promoting and deploying creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship to systematically address complex needs of the society.

    Students will make models and prototypes with the support and guidance of innovators and experts at the event, which is the first phase of the project. Selected students will be given intensive training in startup project formulation.

    Dr Jippu Jacob, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amaljyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirappally, Kottayam, and inventor of coconut dehusker ‘Keramitra’; ugustine Thompson, entrepreneur and national award-winning innovator; and Mr Joy Augustine, national award-winning innovator, will mentor students with creative ideas.

    Experts will help students to mould their ideas into models/prototypes. This will be followed by activities like patent search, economic viability and business plan. The third day will be dedicated to product development, which includes technical support, field level evaluation and end-user analysis.

    KSUM and RuTAG-IIT Madras will facilitate support for selected projects to set up their startups while Creativiti Council will offer mentoring support to them. A non-profit organization, Creativiti Council is a community partner with KSUM. KSUM is the nodal agency of Government of Kerala for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
