GOA:
Drishti Marine lifeguards conducted a double rescue operations involving male Indian tourists from Nagaland at Candolim earlier today. However one other victim was lost to the rough sea.
Two male tourists in their early twenties were rescued earlier today by lifeguards at Candolim. On being brought back to shore they informed the lifeguards that there was a third friend with them. Lifeguards rushes back into the waters to look for a third individual but were unable to trace anybody. Later in the evening a body washed ashore at Candolim beach. Police were informed immediately. Post inquiries police identified that the body was that of the missing victim.
Lifeguards also conducted a rescue operation in Baga involving a male Indian tourists in his late twenties. Meanwhile lifeguards saved 5 individuals in two separate incidents in the past two days in Calangute and Vagator.
The state government has issued an advisory cautioning visitors not to venture into the sea due to the unfavourable weather and sea conditions. The state has witnessed rough sea conditions and rains over the past few days. The state appointed lifeguarding agency, Drishti Marine monitor the weather conditions daily and man the beach stretches.
