KOCHI:
The Muthoot Group announced its association with Wheelchair Cricket India as their Title Sponsors. Wheelchair Cricket India, which recently played and won a 3-day, 2-nation friendship series with Pakistan in UAE, is an association that has promoted and provided a vibrant platform for wheelchair confined Indians who wish to engage and play cricket as professionals.
Speaking about the association, Alexander George Muthoot, Deputy Managing Director, The Muthoot Group said, “Cricket is one of the most popular and watched sports in India. We have always been in the forefront to promote sports and celebrate sportsmanship as we have done with several other sports in the past like football (through Indian Super League), Kabaddi (through Pro-Kabaddi League) and also with Cricket by partnering with IPL Team Chennai Super Kings now and with Delhi Daredevils in the past.
This initiative particularly is an important part of The Muthoot Group’s larger vision of enriching lives of the masses while contributing back to the society. Wheelchair Cricket India is doing notable work by giving opportunity and a platform to those special & differently-abled people of our country who are passionate about playing the sport and we salute this spirit of theirs through this association.”
Pradeep Raj, General Secretary of WCIA said, “We are proud to be associated with The Muthoot Group, known for its family business legacy of over 800 years. With its wide network of 4,500+ branches pan-India, our association with The Muthoot Group will definitely boost the popularity of Wheelchair Cricket India and help put Indian wheelchair folks into mainstream, so they don’t feel themselves isolated.
We express our sincere gratitude to The Muthoot Group for coming forward and supporting us in a big way for the Friendship Cup and all forthcoming series for the next whole year. We are sure many more Corporates would feel inspired by their support and extend support to us”
