NEW DELHI:
As a prelude to India’s maiden Global Impact Challenge (GIC), jointly organized by the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and US-based Singularity University (SU), a roadshow will be conducted here on May 28 to introduce entrepreneurs to a unique opportunity to leverage technology and their skills to tackle global issues in Learning, Healthcare and Environment.
The roadshow will be held at FICCI, Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi from 11am to 12pm on May 28 (Monday). SU, a vast global community using exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges, is bringing GIC 2018 to India for the first time after hosting nearly 119 editions across 45 countries since 2010.
The aim of the GIC is to foster moonshot innovations and startups that positively impact the lives of people, with an ability to scale and impact a billion people worldwide in 10 years. It aims to bring together innovators and stakeholders with a passion to solve one or more of the global grand challenges, including in environment, water, food, health, security, shelter and energy by leveraging exponential technologies.
Titled the “India Global Impact Challenge”, the mission for startups across the country focuses on solutions to address the issues in Learning, Healthcare and Environment fields. In the Learning field, it aims to address skill shortage in emerging technologies and adoption of 21st century skill sets among the youth.
In the environment sector, the India GIC targets solid waste management in urban and rural areas, and also focuses on controlling air and water pollution in cities. In Healthcare, it looks for solution for prevention, detection and treatment of diseases.
The selected startups will be given free incubation at SU Silicon Valley for nine weeks. The Kerala Innovation Grant of Rs 80 lakh will also be given to startups who have good ideas, which can be implemented in Kerala. More details about the mission will be given at the roadshow.
