THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
UST Global, a leading digital technology services company, today announced that it has partnered with 13 government schools in Thiruvananthapuram in 2017 where employees spent more than 4500 volunteer hours, as part of its ‘Adopt a School’ CSR initiative. The program is completely organized and executed by the company’s employees as a part of the employee engagement framework.
Going beyond the ‘cheque writing’ approach, UST Global’s social agenda encourages active involvement of its employees in contributing to social causes. These employee volunteer programs provide an opportunity for employees to develop their personalities and leadership skills by pursuing aspirations outside their functional areas. Mirroring UST Global’s mission of “Transforming Lives”, the employees are creating sustainable impact through these initiatives.
The key initiatives undertaken for schools in 2017 include educational and/or awareness programs and infrastructure buildouts. Regular sessions on IT and Communicative English were provided to some schools, whereas other schools were provided with infrastructure support like computer lab setup, setting up of dining hall and kitchen facility etc. The students of these adopted schools were brought to UST Global’s TVM Campus to provide them an exposure to the IT world. There were other awareness programs like Fire & Safety awareness program, Green initiatives during Gandhi Sevanavaram, etc. which were done in these schools.
Commenting on the success of the initiative, Shilpa Menon, Thiruvananthapuram Centre Head, UST Global, said, “UST Global is committed to live its main motto of “Transforming lives” with various social initiatives it believes in. The mission of ‘Adopt a School’ program is to reach out to the nearby schools with a helping hand and provide exposure programs for students of these schools to think outside of the normal school curriculum. We encourage employees to spend time and talent in helping these children, thus harvesting on their passion for giving back to the society. We sincerely thank all the employees who came forward, all the school’s staff and management who believed in us, and UST Global for providing this platform.”
