Kannur: National Commission for Scheduled Castes will send its official team to Kerala to investgate the arrest of two Dalit sisters in Kannur on charges of alleged attack on a CPM activist.
Akhila (30) and Anjana (25), daughters of a Congress worker were summoned to the police station where a case was non-bailable case was registered against them. They were then sent to the women’s jail along with the one-and-half-year old daughter of Akhila. The duo were released the jail, later.
The police arrested them on the basis of a complaint by CPI(M) that the women had barged into party office and attacked a party activist. The sisters alleged that the CPM activists had abused them by calling their caste name.
