Kochi: Kerala High Court has rejected the demand of a pregnant B Ed student to allow her to appear for the examinations in spite of a shortage in mandatory attendance.
“Pregnancy was an optional choice and that cannot be a reason to permit a student to deviate from the requirements of a regular course of study,” the court said.
Kannur University had barred V G Jasmine from appearing for the second semester examination of the B Ed course. Even though a minimum attendance of 75 per cent is mandatory for writing the exam, she had attended only 45 per cent of classes.
The court reminded the student that she should have set her priorities.
