Global trade enabler DP World operated the India Gateway Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (IGTPL) has set a new monthly container handling record, crossing the 50,000-TEU mark for the first time in August 2017. Compared to August 2016, IGTPL achieved a 16 per cent growth in August 2017.
Efficiency parameters at IGTPL continued to be outstanding, with a Gross Crane Rate (GCR) of 30+ moves per hour, and truck turnaround time of 26 minutes, gate-to-gate which is in line with the best in international industry standards. The terminalin August also successfully hosted more than thousand mainline vessels since its inception in 2011 connecting Cochin with crucial international ports across the globe.
These record-breaking numbers have been achieved by the aggressive marketing efforts undertaken by the Terminal and the Port Trust. IGTPL has been providing mainline vessel options ex-Cochin and an extremely flexible &efficient customer service which has turned out to be an attractive proposition for customers. Additionally, the in-house developed, technologically advanced, intelligent Terminal Operating System (TOS) – ZODIAC provides a high level of automation and helps the Terminal maintain a high productivity and efficiency level.

IGTPL has direct mainline vessels connecting the ports in Far East, Australia, Southeast Asia, Europe, The Mediterranean and the Middle East. The terminal has three weekly sailings to Middle East, one to Far East & one to Europe & the Mediterranean. In addition to these mainline services, IGTPL also has four weekly sailings to Colombo. It is also well connected to other Indian ports on both coasts, including Mundra, Pipavav, Nhava Sheva, Goa, Mangalore, Tuticorin, Chennai, Katupalli, Krishnapatinam and Visakhapatnam.
