THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The 71st Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee Meeting was conducted today(03.10.2018) at Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram. 11 DRUCC members attended the meeting.
P Jayakumar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram division welcomed the members and Shirish Kumar Sinha, Divisional Railway Manager(DRM), Thiruvananthapuram Division and President of DRUCC delivered the keynote address. Ajay Kaushik, Sr.Divisional Commercial Manager, Thiruvananthapuram division and Secretary of DRUCC presented the recent initiatives taken by the division focussing passenger amenities.
Various points given by DRUCC members were discussed and the punctuality of popular commuter trains especially Malabar express, Intercity express and Vanchinad express arriving at Thiruvananthapuram central were discussed in detail. Apart from this, it was decided to expedite the extension of platforms at Thrissur and platform shelter work at Alappuzha station. Divisional Railway Manager narrated the significance of rail replacement works at Shoranur-Ernakulam section and other sections of the division. However, DRM has given assurance to members for close monitoring of the Punctuality of all trains and advance the arrival of 16630 Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Malabar express, 16341 Guruvayur-Thiruvananthapuram Intercity express and 16303 Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram Vanchinad express at Thiruvananthapuram central.
Members raised the issue of unauthorised vending in certain trains. Steps will be taken to introduce more random checks and take stringent action to curtail unauthorised vending in trains. DRUCC members were requested to sensitise passengers to report unauthorised vending through Passenger Helpline Nos. 138 and RPF Helpline number 182. IRCTC will shortly introduce train side vending to cater standard food at approved rates to passengers at platforms.
The DRUCC members expressed appreciation on behalf of people of Kerala to Railways for the quick restoration of train services after the devastating floods and for the various relief activities conducted by railways during floods.
