MUMBAI:
When balancing act of work-life, 39% women professionals claim that they are unable to work out daily due to work responsibilities according to the latest findings from Godrej Interio’s ‘Make Space for Life’ survey. Due to work pressure, technology, and daily routine, Indians claim to find less time and opportunities for themselves, family bonding, and their passions, the survey revealed.
Anil Mathur, Chief Operating Officer, Godrej Interio, described the ‘Women’s day’ edition of the Make Space for Life, as a light-hearted nod towards the priority of women’s health in her life. As the world’s second-most-populous country, India faces both unique challenges and in the sphere of public health. Health is at the least priority for a woman in India and it is influenced by interrelated social and cultural factors. It is a matter of serious concern that Indian women do not get time to work out. The survey found that women are not interested in working out and staying fit as compared to their counterparts.
Commenting on the survey, Anil S Mathur, Chief Operating Officer, Godrej Interio said, “As per our survey findings, although women are better at maintaining a relatively healthy work-life balance, they are constantly juggling between family responsibilities and work pressure. In doing so, they miss out on focusing on their own health. As per our survey findings, with the pressure of work, technology, and family responsibilities, women find less time and opportunities for themselves and their health as compared to their men counterparts.
The woman has always been the guardian of the home, and through years of balancing multiple responsibilities for family members, she does not get enough time to concentrate on her health. While it might get difficult for women to manage their daily commitments and take time out for exercises, the house can be converted into a work-out friendly space where she can easily use the edge of the bed to do a few quick exercises such as incline and decline push-ups, or work your triceps through tricep-dips.
As a brand, Godrej Interio is conscious of the importance of all the segments of an individual’s life and encourages them to take some time out and make space for life. Through our innovative furniture designs, we aspire to enliven our customers’ homes and remind them that in spite of the rigmaroles of varying pressures of life we should make space for passion, family and friends at our home.”
Alarmingly, the study also revealed that 71% of women don’t work out daily compared to 63% of men. Almost a third (30%) claim they are not able to work out daily because of family responsibilities and 30% of women have no interest in working out altogether. Furthermore when balancing act of work-life, more than five-in-seven (76%) of professional men miss out on living life in their way as compared to more than three-in-seven (54%) of women professionals.
Additionally, the national survey findings showed that 66% of the Indians don’t work out on a regular basis. 49.9% of the Indians claim that they do not workout daily due to work commitments 29.3% of the Indians claim that they do not workout daily due to family responsibilities 20.9% of the Indians are not interested in working out altogether.
