  • 46th Indian Dairy Industry Association Conference from Feb 8 to 10

By NE Reporter on February 6, 2018

    KOCHI:
The 46th Indian Dairy Industry Association Conference will be held at Adlux International Convention Centre, Karukutty, Angamaly, Kochi in Kerala from Feb 8 to 10, 2018.
The Conference will be attended by Dairy Farmers, Professionals, Technocrats, Policy Makers, etc., across the country. The three day Mega Event will have exclusive Farmer & Technical Sessions and an Exhibition of Dairy Processing Equipment and allied appliances.
Around 2000 participants from the dairy industry will attend the conference. The theme for the conference has been selected meticulously by a team of experts based on the contemporary issues that haunt the dairy industry as on date.
The Conference would effectively address several issues through technical papers to be presented by eminent Scientists and Researchers across India and abroad. The Conference will be inaugurated by Raju, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Zoos, Govt of Kerala at 11 AM on Feb 8, 2018. The key note address will be delivered by Dilip Rath, Chairman, National Dairy Development Board.
Eminent personalities in the dairy field will be honoured with different awards. Dr Vargheese Kurien award for the year 2017 will be presented to P Gopala Kurup, Chairman, Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma) by the Minister. While the milk producers across the country should be appreciated for their inestimable contribution to the country’s milk production which has been keeping India in the first position over the past two decades, it is to be examined whether the production is “efficient”. India’s milk production is based on low input and low output basis and the major share of the milk produced in the country continues to be retained by the small and marginal farmers with limited resources to feed their animals.
Hence, it has become necessary that the efficiency in milk production should be improved through increased animal productivity especially in the field of animal breeding and nutrition. The National Dairy Plan being implemented by the National Dairy Development Board with the support of Government of India is envisioning productivity and nutrition of the dairy cattle and the theme of the 46h Dairy Industry Conference would effectively get with it.
There should be adequate support structures to make the production more relevant in terms of economics to the producers, One of the important support structures is appropriate cold chain facilities from the villages to the processing plants. Industry is getting benefitted through various projects being floated by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt of India, for establishing cold chain facilities and this will go a long way in increasing the efficiency.
Further, regulating cost of processing with efficient management practices supported by IT, value addition to milk & milk products for making those marketable more efficiently with innovative approach, furthering the quality of our products to exceed the international standards, etc., are a few vital factors that would support our endeavour to migrate our dairy industry towards efficiency.
Indian Dairy Association (IDA) was established in 1948 and is the common forum of the dairy industry in India headquartered at New Delhi. The members of IDA are the farmers, professionals, students, institutions, companies, cooperatives, corporates, government, public sector and so on. IDA functions very closely with the dairy producers, professionals & planners, scientists & educationists, institutions and organisations associated with the development of dairying in India.
Indian Dairy Association has been organising annual Dairy Industry Conferences(DIC) across the four regions of the country, in rotation. As per the schedule, South Zone has organised the current Dairy Industry Conference. Previous Conference in south was conducted at Chennai in December 2013.
