New Delhi: The fate of Indian Army soldier Chandu Babulal Chavan, who is in Pakistan’s custody for crossing the Line of Control between the two countries remains uncertain.
Chavan’s grandmother died of a heart attack soon after hearing the news that he had been captured by Pakistan.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said it wouldtake “some days” to bring back Chavan. “Since the situation is tense right now, it will take some days to bring the soldier back,” the Minister said.
Chandu Babulal Chavan, 22-year-old soldier from 37 Rashtriya Rifles, who had crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control inadvertently was taken into custody by Pakistan on September 30.
The strained relations between India and Pakistan following the Uri terror attack and India’s surgical strikes on pak sponsored terror camps may delay the young soldier’s release.
