Kottayam: Creating history, a 1000-year-old mosque at Kottayam in Kerala threw open its doors for Muslim women for the first time on Sunday. The Thazhathangady Juma Masjid, allowed women to enter the mosque not to offer prayers but to have a look at the holy place.
The Masjid is famous for its rich architecture and wood carvings.
Muslim women had, for long nursed the desire to visit the holy place. They will be allowed another visit on May 8.
