V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) based at Raia, renewed and extended the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Turismo de Portugal during the visit of the President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa while on a state visit to India.
The MOU was signed by Prof. Irfan Mirza, Director/Principal of VMSIIHE and Louis Araujo Head of Turismo de Portugal (TBC), in the presence of the President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, Dipti D. Salgaocar, Vice President Corporate Communication VMSalgaocar Corporation and Ajit M.Gude, Director, VMSalgaocar Corporation at a ceremony held at Cidade de Goa, Dona Paula.
Besides knowledge exchange programmes between the two countries, the MoU will now also include collaborative efforts in internships designed to strengthen a student’s learning experience by integrating on-campus studies with closely related work experience at reputed starred hotels.
Additionally, students can now seek opportunities of employment in Portugal, and on successful completion of the Degree program may consider appropriate avenues for placement to graduating students. The two countries will continue to work together in the fields of research, trainings, teaching-learning methods and other aspects in the near future.
The MOU focuses on a shared vision, to encourage and develop the training and qualification of personnel working in the field of tourism, as well as to offer internship and placement opportunities to successful students.

Professor Irfan Mirza, Director/Principal of V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education lead the efforts in forging a collaboration between the two nations in 2017 during the visit of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Portugal António Costa which has now been reinforced and strengthened to include collaborative efforts in the areas of knowledge exchange, internships and placements.
