MUMBAI:
VietJet has signed strategic cooperation agreements with India’s leading enterprises, GMR Airports Limited and Bird Group, to advance collaboration in aviation infrastructure, services, technology, and connectivity between the two countries. The ceremony took place at the India – Vietnam Business Forum, held during the state visit to India by General Secretary and President of Vietnam To Lam.
The agreements pave the way for comprehensive cooperation between India and Vietnam across aviation, logistics, infrastructure, technology and tourism, while contributing to stronger economic, trade and people-to-people connectivity between the two countries in a new phase of development.
Under the cooperation framework, Vietjet and GMR Airports Limited will explore opportunities to jointly develop air connectivity, airport infrastructure, logistics, aviation services, smart airports and long-term investment initiatives. Meanwhile, Vietjet’s partnership with Bird Group will focus on ground handling services, training, aviation technology, travel and hospitality, aiming to enhance service quality and passenger experience.
Dinh Viet Phuong, First Vice Chairman of Vietjet, said: “India and Vietnam are entering a new era of strong growth and expanding strategic cooperation opportunities. We believe Vietjet’s partnerships with leading Indian enterprises will help open new connectivity corridors across aviation, trade, technology, and investment, contributing to the dynamic development of the Asia-Pacific region.”
Over the years, Vietjet has played a pioneering role in strengthening connectivity between India and Vietnam, one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia and the world. The airline has developed an extensive flight network connecting Vietnam with India’s major economic, cultural and tourism hubs, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. To date, Vietjet has operated 25 routes with approximately 80 flights per week, serving more than 2.5 million passengers between the two countries.
Through its strategic partnerships in India, Vietjet continues to strengthen its role as a bridge for cultural exchange, trade, and economic cooperation, fostering sustainable growth between Vietnam and South Asia, while further enhancing Vietnam’s presence in the regional and global aviation landscape.
