KOCHI:
Prof. J. P Fine from North Carolina University in the U. S will visit Department of Statistics of Cusat under ‘Scholars in Residence’ (Erudite) Programme of the Government of Kerala. Prof. Fine will give a series of lectures from December 4 th to 8 th on topics like ‘Statistics and big data in the health sciences’, ‘Competing risk predictions on two time scales’, ‘Instrumental variable regression with survival outcomes’, etc. The visiting scholar will also hold discussions on various allied areas of statistics, with the students, research scholars and faculty of the Department. The programme is expected to pave way for identifying new areas and formulating innovative methods for studies and research, and for collaborative ventures between the two universities.
