KOZHIKODE:
A major tragedy was averted when SpiceJet flight from Bangalore to Kozikode skidded off the runway during landing at Karipur airport on Friday morning.
There were 70 passengers on board. Due to heavy rains a portion of the runway was filled with water. The pilot managed to aircraft which careened off the runway.
While landing the flight moved towards the left side damaging the runway guiding lights. The flight was brought to the terminal safely by the pilot and no injuries to the passengers or crew were reported.
The ground handing staff and landing crew had sigh of relief when the pilot was able to control the flight and brought to the terminal. The airport fire and rescue services and paramedics rushed to the runway when the incident happened to avoid any eventuality.
