THRISSUR:
The state government has given administrative sanction for the third phase of the Yatri Nivas project near the Athirappilly waterfalls, with an outlay of Rs 2.08 crore.
The project enables the availability of affordable and good quality lodging for tourists near the Athirappilly waterfalls, besides nearby tourist sites like Vazhachal, Malakkappara and Valparai.
The first two phases of the construction had earlier received administrative approval of 5 crore each with the ongoing works being undertaken by Steel Industrials Kerala Limited (SILK).
Tourism and Public Works Minister P. A. Mohamed Riyas said the efforts of the Tourism and Public Works Departments to provide affordable and quality accommodation for travellers have created a transformative impact across the state.
The Yatri Nivas will be a great advantage for tourists visiting Athirappilly and nearby tourist locations, where affordable accommodation facilities are limited. The minister also stated that these improvements will also boost the local economy.
The third phase of Yatri Nivas includes new constructions as well as renovation of existing buildings, besides landscaping, roofing, elevation works, interior works, landscape and ornamental lighting and beautification works.
