THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
With the football frenzy gripping worldwide in the wake of FIFA World Cup, Prathidhwani, the welfare organization of IT employees Kerala, organized a fans tournament for techies in Technopark here last evening.
The fans teams formed by techies—Brazil, Argentina, Portugal and Rest of the World– competed in the Prathidhwani World Cup Fans Tournament, organized in association with Decathlon.
In the first semi-final played out in floodlight, Portugal Fans defeated Argentina Fans. The Brazil Fans entered the final beating the Rest of the World Team. In the final, Brazil Fans lifted the trophy by trouncing the Portugal Fans.
Nikhila won the shoot-out contest conducted for women techies as part of the event. Trophies were given away to the winners.
Earlier, a colourful rally was organized from the Thejaswini Building of Technopark Phase-1 to the Technopark Grounds exuding the exciting vibe of FIFA World Cup. A large number of techies participated in the rally by putting on the jerseys of their favourite teams.
Prathidhwani organized the tourney to foster sportsmanship and share the excitement of World Cup among tech community.
