  • Operation Sindoor: India’s Decisive Blow Against Terror Post-Pahalgam Attack

By NE Reporter on May 7, 2025

    NEW DELHI:
India has sent a stern and unambiguous message to perpetrators of cross-border terrorism — “No More”, as the government officially revealed the details of Operation Sindoor, a swift and targeted military counteroffensive in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

The announcement, made at a high-level government briefing in New Delhi, was accompanied by a powerful visual montage of India’s tragic brush with terrorism over the past two decades — from the 2001 Parliament attack, Akshardham (2002), 26/11 Mumbai, to Uri (2016), Pulwama (2019) and the most recent Pahalgam massacre (2024), which claimed 26 innocent lives.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, flanked by Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, led the press briefing, declaring that India had executed 24 precision missile strikes across nine terror-linked locations inside Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“This was not just retaliation. It was a declaration of strategic resolve,” a senior government source was quoted as saying.
    According to the source:

    • 70 terrorists, including mid- and senior-level commanders of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, were neutralised.
    • The strikes were completed within less than an hour and were synchronised for maximum surprise and minimal detection.
    • UAV surveillance confirmed the complete destruction of targeted facilities.

Unlike previous operations which focused on LoC-adjacent targets, Operation Sindoor marked a doctrinal departure by penetrating deep into Pakistani-administered areas, suggesting a new level of strategic assertiveness from New Delhi.

“India has clearly drawn a red line. Terrorism supported across borders will no longer be met with silence or mere diplomatic protest,” a defence expert said.

The operation comes after the April 22 massacre in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, where 25 tourists and a Kashmiri pony ride operator were brutally killed. In the aftermath, New Delhi accused Pakistan of harbouring and enabling the terror groups behind the attack — a charge Islamabad has denied.

“In the past two weeks, Pakistan has only indulged in denial, distraction and distortion rather than dismantling the terror network it shelters,” Misri stated during the briefing.

The backdrop video, showing footage from terror-hit sites and statistics — 350 civilian deaths, 800 injured, 600+ security personnel martyred over the past decade — ended with a stark message:
    “No More… Operation Sindoor.”
