No Horn Day Observed in Kochi

The Kochi chapter of Young Indians (Yi), the youth wing of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), joined IMA in organising No Horn Day on December 1, 2016.img_2490
The Day was officially inaugurated at the Vyttilla Mobility Hub in the presence Soumini Jain, Mayor, Corporation of Cochin, Hibi Eden, MLA and key office bearers of the IMA, Yi and educational institutions as SCMS and Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (RCSS)
No Horn Day was celebrated to increase the awareness amongst the general public on the ill effects of honking and the need to reduce unnecessary honking in the city. Students from institutions across the city including TocH public School, Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, St Thomas Girls High schimg_2529ool, Thevara, SCMS, RCSS amongst others stood at various junctions and points in the city explaining the concept of the campaign and pasting stickers on the vehicles. The campaign was very well received by the public and was fully supported by local taxi and autorikshaw drivers and the local police.
The campaign, Horn Not OK Please (HNOP) was originally launched by the Young Indians (Yi) in Kochi city four years ago and from then onwards, the campaign has grown in impact and strength to spread pan India. The No Horn Day was observed in commemoration
