PROceed Training Academy
PROceed Training Academy is Nippon Paint’s special training hub through which unskilled labour are transformed to skilled painters. Many underprivileged and undereducated men and women are trained and also provided with employment opportunities. The nshakti initiative, a part of the PROceed academy’s offerings, particularly empowers women who lack the necessary skills by training them and offering necessary financial aid to assist their entrepreneurial journey.
Nshakti Initiative
Nippon Paint’s nshakti training program is an initiative to train rural women in professional wall painting. Its sole objective is to make rural women employable and transform their lives positively. The women trainees are trained by expert trainers from Nippon Paint’s PROceed training academy to qualify themselves to become professional wall painters.
Nippon Paint’s PROceed training academies located in Chennai, Madurai and Salem, have already been instrumental in training more than 2000 underprivileged individuals and this is their first attempt at reaching out to women trainees in particular having successfully trained close to 200 rural women across Tamil Nadu. The nshakti trainees undergo 240 hours of theoretical and practical training to earn the qualification of being professional painters. Nippon Paint plans to launch this initiative in Kerala to benefit its rural women. This will empower rural women who have limited access to skill training, gain the necessary learning opportunity to earn a livelihood or even kick start their entrepreneurial journey.
RPL Certification for Painters
Nippon Paint’s CSR initiatives aimed at enabling holistic community development include areas of focus such as skills development, women empowerment, community upliftment, medical support, disaster relief, sanitation, and education. One such novel initiative was an attempt to retrain and certify 10,000 painters with RPL (recognition of prior learning) certification, in line with India’s national skills development goals.
Nippon Paint provided free professional painter’s training at their PROceed Training Academy to equip the painters in obtaining TNSDC certification that recognized them as Professional painters. Through its painters training academy, Nippon Paint is armed with the necessary capacity and resources to carry out such a valuable initiative. The training focuses on equipping the painters with the necessary skills required to meet current industry requirements. This would help the painters to move up the value chain as government-certified professional
painters.
