Launched in December 2025, the inaugural edition of the challenge has engaged over 20,000 students from more than 500 institutions across the country. Participants progressed through intra-college rounds, city-level competitions across 11 cities, and regional finales before reaching the national stage.
The Grand Finale will bring together the top three regional winning teams representing IIT Delhi, Maturi Venkata Subba Rao Engineering College and Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, who will present their solutions before a distinguished jury comprising leaders from industry, academia and policymaking.
The winning team of the Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge 2026 will be awarded an International Education Trip, along with a range of prizes and recognition opportunities. The competition carries a total prize pool worth INR 30 lakh and has been designed to encourage innovation, industry engagement and future-ready problem-solving among aspiring infrastructure professionals.
As part of the finale, NICMAR will also host an Industry-Academia Conclave, bringing together senior industry leaders, academicians and policymakers to discuss the future of India’s built environment. Discussions will focus on themes such as building smart, sustainable and inclusive cities for Viksit Bharat 2047, as well as the forces shaping the future of construction, including artificial intelligence, digital project management, workforce transformation, sustainability and emerging infrastructure asset classes.
Commenting on the upcoming finale, Gaurav Bajpai, Director – Marketing, NICMAR, said, “The Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge was conceived to create a platform where young minds can apply their knowledge to solve real-world infrastructure challenges. The scale of participation and quality of ideas witnessed throughout the competition reflect the immense potential of India’s future engineers and architects. The Grand Finale represents not only the culmination of a national competition but also a celebration of innovation, collaboration and the future of India’s infrastructure ecosystem.”
The event is expected to witness participation from leading academicians, industry experts, policymakers and institutional leaders, creating a unique platform for dialogue between academia and industry.
The Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge was launched by NICMAR as a nationwide innovation platform for students of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Planning and allied disciplines to develop solutions for real-world infrastructure and built environment challenges. Supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the competition was designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements by encouraging students to address issues related to construction technology, sustainability, mobility, housing, urban development and digital transformation.
Through the Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge, NICMAR continues to strengthen its commitment to developing future-ready talent and fostering innovation across the Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Project Management (CRIP) sectors.
