KOCHI:
Ernakulam Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) of Milma has raised the additional incentive on milk procured from dairy farmers to Rs 15 per litre for a period from February 1 to March 31, 2025.
The dairy farmers affiliated to the milk cooperative societies under the ERCMPU have been getting Rs 10 as additional incentive since August 11, 2024.
The increase has been approved by the Director Board of ERCMPU, its Chairman Valsalanpillai C said today.
The dairy farmers and milk cooperative societies of Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kottayam and Idukki districts will benefit from the increase. Out of the Rs 15, Rs 8 will go to farmers and Rs 7 to the societies. From the society’s component, Rs one will be converted into its share in the Regional Union.
The incentive is expected to entail a commitment of Rs 24 crore from the working profit of ERCMPU.
“The ERCMPU is committed to give the best possible price to the dairy farmers under it. This is the best incentive price in the country’s dairy cooperative sector,” Valsalanpillai said.
Besides taking forward the ongoing diversification projects, ERCMPU also has plans to implement new developmental and welfare schemes, he said.
The work of the Milma Refresh Veg Restaurant in Thrissur is progressing well, which is the second one in the chain. The outlet near the Milma Training Centre in Thrissur is expected to be completed by March end.
Milma’s bakery unit in Chalakkudy is doing well and similar units will be opened in Muvvattupuzha and Marangattupally soon.
