KOCHI:
Superfablab under the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has invited applications for its Fab Academy 2025 course. The Fab Academy collaborates with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for Bits and Atoms and follows the internationally acclaimed syllabus prepared by the Fab Foundation.
This six-month course specialises in digital fabrication and rapid prototyping, offering participants hands-on experience with diverse manufacturing techniques over 20 weeks. The classes will be led by Prof. Neil Gershenfeld of MIT, a pioneer in the field of digital fabrication. Participants will undertake weekly projects, culminating in a comprehensive final project that integrates all the skills and techniques learned during the course.
Locally, the course will be conducted at KSUM’s Advanced Prototyping Lab, Superfablab Kochi. Graduates of the program will have the opportunity to participate in Fab Lab Kerala’s maker residency programs, technology fellowships, and community projects, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the state.
The course is open to individuals with an aptitude for design, a basic knowledge of English, and a passion for science and technology. Applicants who qualify will be eligible for an 80 per cent fee-waiver through a foundation scholarship. Additionally, five female students will receive a 95% fee waiver, promoting inclusivity in STEM fields.
Admission to the program will be based on an interview. Applications can be submitted online at https://fabacademy.fablabkerala.in. To assist prospective candidates, a special AMA (Ask Me Anything) session will be held this Friday. Interested participants can register for the session at https://ksum.in/ama_fabacademy.
