    • Kerala Feeds Provides Free Cattle Feed to Flood-Affected Areas

    Kerala Feeds, the public sector cattle feed manufacturer, has supplied free cattle feed to dairy farmers in flood-affected areas of Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts, following the special direction of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Bindu Krishna.

    The initiative was taken in line with the minister’s direction to ensure that Kerala Feeds is prepared to provide immediate assistance, including cattle feed, to farmers affected by natural disasters.

    As part of the initiative, 150 bags of Kerala Feeds Elite cattle feed, valued at Rs 2.31 lakh, were supplied to the affected areas. Kerala Feeds Managing Director Dr B. Sreekumar flagged off the vehicle carrying the cattle feed today.

    “Supporting farmers during times of crisis is part of the social responsibility of public sector institutions,” Dr Sreekumar said, adding that the initiative would help farmers, whose livelihoods were disrupted by the floods, return to normalcy at the earliest.

    Arrangements have been completed at the Karunagappally unit to ensure the urgent dispatch of cattle feed to the affected areas.

    Kerala Feeds has a history of supporting the dairy sector during natural disasters. During the devastating floods of 2018, the company supplied free cattle feed and mineral mixture worth several crores of rupees to farmers in flood-affected areas under its ‘Snehsparsham’ initiative.

    It also provided cattle feed to affected farmers at concessional rates and coordinated loan facilities in association with public sector banks, helping farmers rebuild their livelihoods.
