The 125th edition of the weekly programme, organised by the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) in association with Mehboob Memorial Orchestra and Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Limited, witnessed a scintillating show of receptive music at the General Hospital here.
Sajan Palluruthy, known for his stand-up comedy shows and acting skills, was the chief guest at the programme, which renders solace to the patients. He sang popular folk songs like ‘Ninnekaanan Ennekkalum’ and ‘Chalakudy Chandakku’, in remembrance of the late actor Kalabhavan Mani, creating a nostalgic mood.
The duo enthralled the audience, comprising the patients, bystanders and hospital staff, through a mix of ghazals and ‘naadan paatukal’. The combination of effective rendition of music and orchestra evoked enthusiastic response from the crowd.
Satheesh, whose singing career spans a period of over 15 years, mellifluously rendered a number of Hindi and Malayalam songs and ghazals, including those of iconic ghazal singers Mehdi Hassan (‘Rafta Rafta’) and Ghulam Ali (‘Chupke chupke raat din’) as also ‘Ghazal main bandish–e–alfaaz’ ,‘Kya milega kisi ko’, ‘Kuch door hamare saath chalo’, among others.
‘Kumarji’, as he is popularly known, learnt Hindustani music and ghazals under the tutelage of Parameshwar Hedge in Bengaluru. He frequently appears on various TV channels.
