As a reason, the upcoming weekend is one of the busiest weekend for the travel industry in the state.
According to Karan Anand, Head Relationships, Cox and Kings, “There is almost 40% increase in domestic travel movement from Kerala to the neighboring states Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and around 20% rise among international bookings.”
He further added, “Travel within the state is in full swing, destinations such as Munnar, Wayanad, Coorg, Ooty, Kanyakumari and Pondicherry are the most popular for this weekend. International short haul destinations such as Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore are the top picks.”
The lead time to obtain a visa to these three countries is very less thereby making these destinations attractive for Keralaites. The state has direct connections to Singapore and Malaysia and the duration is less than four hours thereby enabling them to go on a quick holiday.
“Most of the people have planned the travel for this weekend well in advance. They have booked their air tickets beforehand at lower rates and are now looking for hotels and sightseeing options. As a result our packages that include only hotels and sightseeing are in great demand”, said Karan.
