The ‘Infrastructure works for Sanjay Centre for Special Education at Porvorim’ was inaugurated today at the hands of Manohar Parrikar, Defence Minister, Government of India, in the distinguished presence of Laxmikant Parsekar, Chief Minister of Goa, Sidharth Kuncalienker, Vice Chairman of GSIDC and MLA of Panaji constituency, Guruprasad Pawaskar, Chairman, Sanjay Centre for Special Education and Nila Mohanan, Secretary, Education.
Under the visionary leadership of Pramod P. Sawant, GSIDC is helping lead the way in building quality infrastructure for the state of Goa. Currently, the coporation is in the process of building roads, bridges, hospitals, colleges, schools, libraries, stadiums, jetties, bus stands, cultural centres and market complexes and is involved in the holistic development of rural and urban spaces.
Adding to this list of works, GSIDC has undertaken the ‘Infrastructure works for Sanjay Centre for Special Education at Porvorim’. The project entails the renovation of
the existing school building and part extension for provision of additional facilities. The total area of the renovation and construction is 1780 sq.m. The building has provisions for various facilities such as vocational training halls, well- equipped classrooms, a conference room, a multipurpose hall, ramps and lifts to enable accessibility and adequate toilets for children with special abilities. The school has a centrally located, open-to- sky, landscaped courtyard and a well designed stage for extracurricular functions. In addition, the building is equipped with an auditorium with a capacity of 500 people, along with green rooms and toilets. The entire structure is painted with a vibrant,
child-friendly colour scheme and floor patterns with surface textures for differently-abled students. The building is also equipped with a CCTV surveillance system, fire fighting system, public address system, air-conditioning for a multipurpose hall and two new additional lifts.
