The International Annual Alumni meet of the IIM Kozhikode, Sangam2017 was held on Saturday, 13th May 2017 , at Hotel Gokulam Park, Kaloor, Kochi.
SANGAM, the Global Alumni meet is a platform where every year the faculty, alumni and students of IIM Kozhikode, take time off from their busy schedule to reunite with their alma_mater and to cherish the memorable moments of the class d
The event is coordinated by the alumni committee of IIM Kozhikode and hosted at different National and International locations by local alumni chapters. Sangam brings together Alumnus from programmes like the PGP, Executive Senior Management Programmes like the EPGP and Certification who are attached to respective regional chapters as well as current students undergoing internship in those locations.
The current year’s event will be held in 7 Indian locations concurrently at Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi and is also getting scheduled for New York, Dubai, Singapore etc.
The Kochi leg of Sangam 2017 was inaugurated by Prof Kulbhushan Balooni, Director, IIM Kozhikode; along with him was Prof Mohammed Shahid Abdulla, Faculty and area chair of IT & Systems.
During the inaugural address Prof K Balooni said that the year 2017, being the 20th year of existence for IIM Kozhikode and also the 20th year of service for Prof K Balooni with the Institute and mentioned how the efforts and hard work put in be all Faculty & Alumni since the year of inception is coming out fruitful. Like; the National Institutional Ranking Framework under MHRD have ranked IIM Kozhikode 5th among B-Schools. Great opportunity given by the Central government for successfully mentoring IIM Amritsar.
IIM Kozhikode is a preferred destination for aspiring Managers evidenced by the closing of admissions this year within one week itself. Also suggested a need and importance of Alumni funding for the institute apart from the support they lend currently for academic and industry interaction and placements. This has to be one of the ways forward considering on the one side; the discontinuation of government grants and the big phase-5 expansion of the Campus that is going on, he added.
Prof Mohammed Shahid Abdulla; during his message to the Alumni pointed out the need for continuous interaction with the institute by way contributing some of their quality time on institute projects, given the fact that in B-schools typically the interaction with the Alumni and faculty continues even after they graduate.
The Director also released the profile book of the third batch of EPGP-Kochi. Arun Narayanan gave a brief introduction about the vision behind the book. The profile book will be a reference to the professional profile of the batch and also as an almanac.
There was also a Business Pitch Session where many entrepreneurs/professionals, who are Alumni’s of IIM Kozhikode made a quick presentation about their Business, their willingness to support alumni initiatives and their look out to expand them through the Alumni network. th session was conceptualized and coordinated by Krishna Swamy A, Partner, Konfidence Education and Aswathy Govind: CEO, Q-Magik, Kochi, Ajith Kumar B, IIMK Alumni and Partner, Elan Trading Company Pvt Ltd, Kochi, delivered the welcome address and expressed his immense gratitude to see the event being hosted every year. Ashirwad Bomboriya, IIMK Alumni and AGM-Muthoot Group delivered the vote of thanks.
