THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS) is organising the FOSS Young Professional Meet 2018-19 (FYPM 2018-19) in order to initiate efforts to make Kerala emerge as a hub for talents in FOSS and related technologies.
M Sivasankar, Secretary, IT, Government of Kerala, will inaugurate the two-day meet at Uday Samudra Beach Hotel, Kovalam here at 10 am on February 9. Dr. P.V. Unnikrishnan, Joint Director, CDIT and Dr. Jayasankar Prasad C., Director, ICFOSS will also present on the occasion.
The annual event brings together students, fresh graduates, young professionals and start-up companies that are interested in FOSS-based tools and technologies with the purpose of acquiring information, skills and competencies. The lead theme for the meet is “Industry 4.0”, reflecting the importance of FOSS in this domain. The event will feature invited talks and workshops on “Industry 4.0.” Delegates from universities, research and IT industry will attend the event.
Workshops on open source architecture RISC- V and Kutty Pi are the highlights of the event. The discussion on “In memory of outdated technologies “ will feature technology stacks for “Industry 4.0”, which includes Data Analytics, Cyber Security, Machine learning and cutting edge technologies such as RISC V and LoRaWAN.
ICFOSS will also launch ‘FOSS Contribution Award’ as part of the event to honour students, graduates and young professionals for their contributions made to FOSS community.
