By NE Reporter on October 25, 2017

    KOCHI:
Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), a think tank based in Kochi, will host 30 participants of ‘Semester at Sea’, a unique course designed for students from various streams and nationalities with sessions held inside a ship, in its office at 3.30 pm on Wednesday (October 25, 2017).
D Dhanuraj (Chairman, CPPR) will speak on ‘International Issues in Recreation and Tourism’, highlighting the domain of medical tourism in Kerala. CPPR will be hosting the participants of the floating campus for the seventh time in a row. Every year, students from 250-300 colleges from across the world participate on Semester at Sea each term. On March 3, 2016, 21 participants attended a workshop titled ‘Globalisation of Trade from India’s Perspective’ in the CPPR office. Two sessions on ‘World Trade Organisation and Indian Agriculture’ and ‘Multi-brand Retailing in India’ were held.
Semester at Sea is a multiple country study abroad programme founded in 1963 open to students of all majors, emphasising comparative academic examination, hands-on field experiences, and meaningful engagement in the global community. A wide variety of coursework from 20-25 disciplines is integrated with relevant field studies in up to a dozen countries. The University of Virginia is the academic sponsor. Throughout the history of the programme, nearly 55,000 undergraduate students from more than 1500 colleges and universities have participated in Semester at sea.
