Kochi: Staring at women for more than 14 seconds can land you in jail? This question is making rounds in Kerala ever since Rishiraj Singh, a senior IPS officer and Kerala’s Excise Commissioner said that a case can be filed for such an ‘offence’.
Singh made this statement while addressing a gathering of students in Kochi and added that not a single such case has been registered in Kerala.
What has left the male folk of Kerala wondering is the legality of booking a criminal case if a man stares at a woman for more than 14 seconds.
The issue has been taken up by Senior CPM leader and Kerala Minister E P Jayarajan, who said that Singh’s statement was in bad taste and that the Minister would take up the matter with Singh’s Ministry.
