Exonic Shipping Company Office Inaugurated

KOCHI: Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said that the government will provide ten acres of land to the Kochi Port Trust to build a cruise terminal. He was inaugurating the Kochi office and logistics institute of Dubai-based Exonic Shipping Company. Satheesan said that with the start of export and import activities in Vizhinjam, it will be helpful to find international markets for the state’s products including spices.

The Chief Minister also said that the Oceanarium, International Maritime Museum and Film City projects will pave the way for the growth of tourism in Kochi. Hibi Eden MP, T.J. Vinod MLA, former MLA Joseph Vazhakkan, Councilor Bindu Viju, Exonic MD’s Tintu Baby and Joshi John and others spoke.

Exonic Managing Directors Tintu Baby and Joshi John said that the opening of the Kochi office is part of the expansion of its operations in India. As part of the expansion, an office will also be opened in Vizhinjam within three years. They said that it can provide direct employment to 500 people in Kerala and indirect employment to 2000 people.

Goods will be sent from Kerala to Europe, USA and the Middle East. There will also be imports from various countries. The Logistics Institute is being started in Kochi due to the shortage of experienced workers in the shipping sector. Courses lasting from six months to a year will be started here.
