KOCHI:
The Eastern-Chemmeen International Short Film Awards, 2016 will be announced and presented at a function to be held at the Padma Theatre, Kochi on June 22 at 4 pm.
Actor, Padmashree Madhu will be the chief guest. Famous film directors Kamal and B Unnikrishnan will grace the occassion. The jury for the awards was headed by director, Dr Biju.
The top award-winning movie will win a prize of Rs 1 lakh and awards will be presented in seven other categories. All the eight award-winning short films will be screened at the venue, after the awards presentation.
Despite being in its first year, the Eastern-Chemmeen Short Film Awards 2016 attracted robust interest from all around the country and abroad. The Eastern-Chemmeen International Short Film Awards have been instituted by the Global Initiative for Excellence, publishers of the Global-k magazine.
The venture seeks to immortalize the classical Malayalam movie Chemmeen, and promote fresh and aspiring talent in the world of movies and visual communication.
