Dr. Fr. Hubby Mathew, the Director of Peerumedu Development Society and Head of the Department of Social Work at Marian College, Kuttikanam, was awarded the eighth Fr. Jose Alex Award for excellence in social work, instituted by Rajagiri College of Social Sciences for professional social workers.
The award consists of Rs. 50,001 and plaque. Dr. R R Singh, former Director of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai handed over the award to Dr. Fr. Hubby Mathew, at the DYUTI national conference organized by the Department of Social Work at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery.
Dr. Fr. Mathew Kuriyedethu presided over the award ceremony and Dr. Fr. Mathew Vattathara, Director of Rajagiri Group of Institutions, Dr. Joseph I Injodey, Executive Director of RCSS, Dr. Binoy Joseph, Principal, RCSS and Dr. Anish K R, Convener of the award ceremony talked during the award function. Dr. R R Singh, the chief guest of the ceremony was presented with a token of appreciation.
The key note address was delivered by Dr. R R Singh, who enlightened the audience by his remarkable thoughts on outcome of the services. He advised the group ofbudding social workers not to limit their vision by the outcome and the evidence, but to think beyond. A pioneer in social work, Dr. R R Singh enlightened the group that Outcome is never the end of a process, but just a beginning of the end, and the process continues endless.
Dr Hubby Mathew, is a post-graduate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and currently serves as the Executive Director of Peerumade Development Society and also the Head of the Department of Social Work at Marian College, Kuttikanam. An accomplished and well respected professional with 26 years of comprehensive experience in the field of social work, he is also the member of Naturaland World Advisory Board and is also the only delegate for the Naturaland assembly of delegates from Asia. He was a member of three committees formed by the Ministry Of Rural Development, government of India.
Dr. Fr. Hubby Mathew remained thankful to his coworkers at PDS and the Social Work Dept at Marian College, Kuttikanam, for what he is today. He urged on the need for a bottom to top development process and spoke about the activities at PDS, where a sustainable development of the poor and marginalized is focused upon. The energetic professional social worker seemed to be hopeful about his future plans, and declared that the whole sum of the cash prize shall be spent for the education purpose of girl children of an orphanage to whom he is connected.
