NEW DELHI:
Alkesh Kumar Sharma, the CEO and Managing Director of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC), has been named CEO of the Year for Green Management and Future Leadership at the prestigious Golden Globe Tigers Award 2017.
The Golden Globe Tigers Award, established by the World CSR Institute, recognise “Tigers” in marketing, branding CSR & social innovation, education & academic across leadership levels in individual and organisation.
Sharma, a 1990 batch IAS officer, has been heading the DMICDC since 2015 overseeing India’s largest and most ambitious infrastructure project.
The awards were announced at a glittering ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Monday (April 24) attended by representatives from 43 countries, although Mr Sharma was unable to receive the award in person due to his schedule.
The DMIC, a multi-faceted project being built to the highest global standards in sustainability, is setting new benchmarks in green infrastructure.
Last year, the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) awarded its prestigious Green City ‘Platinum’ Rating to Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), an industrial city coming up in Gujarat as part of the DMIC.
With a total footprint of over 920 sq. km. and developable area of 540 sq. km., Dholera is India’s largest upcoming city and one of only few cities in the world and the first greenfield city in the country to achieve the IGBC rating.
Sharma was recently designated by the Indian gov
ernment to take additional charge as the Member Secretary and CEO of the new National Industrial Corridor Development & Implementation Trust (NICDIT), the apex body formed to oversee the development of all industrial corridors across the country.
