Cochin University of Science and Technology(CUSAT) has secured a place in the Times Higher Education global ranking in the area of Computer Science. CUSAT is one among the 28 universities and the lone university from Kerala included in the ranking. Excellence in research activities and collaboration with world renowned Universities greatly helped CUSAT in finding a place in the global ranking.
The students and faculty members have jointly published many research papers in frontline international journals in the area of Computer Science. The joint research projects the Computer Science department in CUSAT has undertaken with foreign universities such as Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Queens University in UK are progressing. Besides, the joint academic activities of the department with University of Rochester, Purdue University, and Indianapolis University in the US also increased its global visibility as a higher education institution in Computer Science. The laboratory facilities in the department for research in the frontier areas of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Cyber Physical Systems, Cyber Intelligence, Data Analytics, Natural Language Processing, Bio-informatics, etc, together with the increased placement the B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, and MCA students here are offered by reputed IT companies also contributed to the achievement of the University. CUSAT Vice Chancellor Dr K.N. Madhusoodanan said that the achievement is the result of the joint efforts of the students and teachers of the department.
The University has started courses like M.Sc(Data Science) and M.Tech(Artificial Intelligence) with the objective of moulding students proficient and dexterous in handling sophisticated technology. Another five year Integrated M.Sc. programme in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science proposed by the University, is awaiting Government nod.
