Biennale Pappanji to Make its Way to Seafront

The 37 ft Pappanji, made by the Kochi Biennale Foundation, will make its journey tomorrow afternoon to the seafront near the Bastion Bungalow, where the burning of the effigy will be part of the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Fort Kochi at midnight tomorrow.pappanji-2
Kochi Mayor Soumini Jain, MLAs Maxy K J, Hibi Eden and John Fernandez, Deputy Mayor TJ Vinod, Collector K Mohammed Y Safirulla, Sub Collector Dr Adheela Abdullah and Malayalam director Abrid Shine will be present for the burning of the Pappanji, built by artists Reghunadhan K and KG Anto commissioned by the KBF. The burning of the Pappanji is part of a tradition started here in the 1980s.
The celebrations will include a music show, featuring singer Faisal Razi of the popular ‘Poomaram Kondu Kappalundakki’ song and folk singers.
