Beach Cricket: CAFIT Premier League Kicks Off

The CAFIT (Calicut Forum for IT), in collaboration with Government Cyber Park, has launched the CAFIT Premier League, a beach cricket tournament. The three-day event is being held at a specially prepared ground at Kozhikode Town Beach, with a total of 35 teams competing across men’s and women’s categories.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Sushanth Kurunthil, CEO of Infopark and Cyber Park. He expressed confidence that the event would evolve into an exciting tournament for spectators.

Government Cyber Park Chief Operating Officer Vivek Nair, CAFIT President Rifath Rahman, Secretary Prajeesh K.K., former President and CPL Chairman Abdul Gafoor K.V., and representatives of various sponsors were present at the inaugural ceremony.

The matches are being played in a six-over format, with eight players per team. A total of 29 men’s teams and 6 women’s teams are participating. The finals will be held on Sunday. In the opening match, Softronics defeated IONOB by 15 runs. Matches are scheduled from 3 PM to 11 PM.

Winners across various categories will receive prizes worth ₹1.5 lakh.
