Rent a car service with the approval of the government was introduced in Kochi. AVS Cars introduced the new concept in the State for the first time.

According to Ajithkumar the service was aimed at targetting the tourists arriving in Kochi. Those who wish to avail the service can submit the copy of their identity cards and remit the fare.
Those who possess national and international driving licence can avail the service. For foreign tourists, attested copy of the passport should also be submitted.
Already 51 cars have been pressed into service and there are facility for availing the cars from any parts of the State and also return it at any place where the customer ends the service. These official rent a car can be identified by its number which in which the numbers are written in yellow with black background.
Rent a car is charged as per the model of the cars which ranges from Rs 600 to Rs 1400 for 100 kilometre. Above 100 kilometres, Rs 5 to Rs 10 will be charged for a kilometre. Cars will also be rented on a monthly basis which ranges from Rs 17,000 to Rs 38,000 for 3,000 kilometres.
