V.Ajith Kumar IRSSE has been selected as Managing Director of KRDCL. R.K.Kulseshtra , General Manager Southern Railway had taken immediate steps to relieve Ajith Kumar from Southern Railway so as to enable him to take up the new assignment in KRDCL, considering its vital role in building Railway infrastructure in the state of Kerala.
V.Ajith Kumar, IRSSE has a rich experience of over 29 years working in various railways , like Southern Railway, South Central Railway, Research Design and Standard Organisation, Lucknow. He has been instrumental in various doubling and gauge conversion projects in Southern Railway. He has worked as General Manager in Railtel
Corporation Ltd., a PSU under Ministry of Railways.
Kerala Rail Development Corporation Ltd. (KRDCL) is a joint venture company registered by the Government of Kerala and Indian Railways. The company formed on 51:49 equity partnership by the Government of Kerala and the Ministry of Railways has been specifically formed to develop Railway infrastructure in the State of Kerala.
Indian Railways has taken an initiative for setting up of Joint Ventures with States for focused project development, resource mobilisation, land acquisition, project implementation and monitoring of critical rail projects. In addition to Government of Kerala, Governments of Odisha, Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat have also signed JV agreement with Ministry of Railways for developing railway infrastructure. Signing of Joint Venture Agreements with State Governments is a farsighted step of the Ministry of Railways by which the railways reassure to work together with State Governments for the development of Railway infrastructure in States. Working in collaboration with State Governments through JV Agreements can bring fruitful results for the people of the country beyond resource limitations.
Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal vigorously pursued signing of agreements between various State Governments and Indian Railways giving wider scope for prioritising development of railway infrastructure in accordance with regional aspirations.
Recently Ashwini Lohani Chairman Railway Board had a meeting with Pinarayi Vijayan Chief Minister of Kerala in which officials of Government of Kerala and Ministry of Railway were present. They have decided to conduct initial survey for new line between Thalaserry-Mysore and for 3rd and 4th line between Thiruvanthipuram and Kasargod.
