Veena George to Inaugurate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics

State Health Minister Veena George will inaugurate the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics Kerala (IAP Kerala), an organization of pediatricians in Kerala, online on December 4.

The Annual Conference ‘Pedicon Kerala 2021’ will be held from December 1 to December 5 at IMA House, Kochi here. The program is conducted by ensuring the covid 19 pandemic safety criteria.

There should be presented more than 60 theses by renowned National and international experts. Poster presentations by medical college faculty and post-graduate pediatric students will be organized. The emphasis this year is on continuing education programs to create awareness among junior doctors about the importance of clinical training.

The motto of this conference is ‘Fifty Years of Community Inspiration Tomorrow’. Dr. M. Narayanan, Organizing Secretary; PM Mohammad Ismail, Dr. M Venugopal, Dr. S. Sachidananda Kammath, Dr. Abraham K. Pau,l and Dr. TV Ravi will speak at the press conference.

The national-level Chapter was established in Pune in 1963. The IAP Kerala Chapter was formed in Kottayam in 1971 by 24 pediatricians is the first state subchapter. Now More than 3,000 pediatricians in the state are members of the organization.

In 2002, UNICEF declared Kerala the world’s first child-friendly state. Kochi is the first city in the world to be child-friendly. In addition, last year Kerala was declared as the first childbearing-friendly state. The state has been able to achieve these achievements as a result of the excellent work of the organization. IAP Kerala has also made it to the list of states with the lowest infant mortality rate in the country.
