  • Uber Resumes its Operations in Kochi and Thrissur

By NE Reporter on May 5, 2020

    KOCHI:
Uber has resumed its operations today in Kochi and Thrissur for providing riders with safe, reliable, and convenient mobility solutions after the cities were categorized as part of the green zone by the government.

In Kochi, riders will be able to access UberGO, Uber Premier, Uber Intercity, Uber Hire, and UberXL. In Thrissur, riders will be able to access UberGO, Uber Premier, and Uber Intercity. Uber Intercity operations will be limited to travel with necessary authorisation within state and permissible zones only.

Kanika Malhotra, Head, Ridesharing South India & Sri Lanka, Uber, said, “We are pleased to resume our services in Kochi and Thrissur. Our priority is moving cities forward, while ensuring a safe experience for riders. We are also looking forward to bringing back earning opportunities for the driver-partner community. The health and safety of our community has always been and will continue to remain our top priority, especially now, as we resume services. We request all our riders to constantly be alert about safety and follow all advice from government and public health authorities.”

To ensure everyone’s safety, Uber recommends certain guidelines. If you’re sick, please stay home; Wash your hands with soap or use a sanitizer before and after every ride; It’s mandatory to wear a face mask/ covering during an Uber ride; If you sneeze or cough, do so into your elbow or a tissue; You can either open the windows for ventilation or ask your driver to switch on the A/C in the fresh air mode only; whenever possible, please use digital payments; please handle your luggage and belongings yourself; as directed by the government, senior citizens over 65 years of age, persons with existing ailments (comorbidities), pregnant women, and children below the age of 10 should stay home, except for essential requirements.

It’s vital that riders feel protected when availing a ride through Uber. Therefore, drivers and riders can cancel trips if they don’t feel comfortable due to safety reasons. In such cases, Uber will provide a full refund of cancellation charges, if the rider submits a cancellation request through the app.
