New Delhi: Students appearing for Class X Exams may be given the opportunity to choose between two tests – Higher and Lower – very soon.
Also, a SAT model national level test may be introduced AFTER Class XII. SAT is the standard national entrance test in US for those who seek admission to college courses. This test will be open to all who have passed Class XII, irrespective of the examination boards under which they studied.
Class X exams are to be held at two levels – higher and lower – especially in mathematics and sciences. The syllabus will be the same.
The lower level exam may be opted by students who do not want to study these subjects in Class XI. It will also be helpful to those students who take up vocational courses after Class X.
These are some of the major reforms proposed by the committee that formulated the National Policy of Education 2016.
The Committee feels that the SAT model national test will be an alternative to multiple entrance tests for college admission.
There will be “on- demand board exams” for candidates if the proposal of the committee are accepted.
