Kochi: Kerala High Court has observed that keeping athlete Anu Raghavan out of the relay team for Rio Olympics was an injustice to her.
Anu Raghavan was replaced by Ashwini Akkunji, an athlete whose merits counted less than those of Anu. She had clocked better time than Ashwini in the previous four meets. The court which went into the merits of both the athletes asked the Olympics Association to include Anu in the team.
However, the Indian Olympics Association told the court that Anu could not be included as the deadline for finalising the team was over.
The Court then asked the Association to submit an affidavit citing the reason for not including Anu in the team.
