The Muthoot M George Foundation launches a fully automatic electric wheelchair project under the patronage of Muthoot Snehasancharini to help the physically challenged. Ernakulam MP, Hibi Eden inaugurated the distribution of the fully automatic electric wheelchair project in the presence of Muthoot Group Managing Director, George Alexander Muthoot, Executive Director, George M George Muthoot and Chalakudy MP, Benny Behanan in Muthoot Institute of Technology & Science at Puthencruz.
Initially, fully automatic electric wheelchairs were distributed to 34 physically challenged people in Ernakulam district. The scheme provides fully mechanized wheelchairs for free of cost to the needy and homeless, who are unable to walk without the assistance of another due to disabilities. The cost of a fully automatic electric wheelchair is Rs. 50,000. This is the first venture in Kerala where these many fully automated electric wheelchairs have been distributed at one go.
Inaugurating the distribution of the project, Hibi Eden said, The Muthoot M George Foundation’s charity work is a helping hand to those who struggle with physical challenges and move on with their lives. This noble cause of Muthoot M George Foundation is heartening and this initiative encourages many companies to engage in such humanitarian activities. Muthoot Group Managing Director, George Alexander Muthoot said, we hope that this project will help the deserving people to start a new phase of life.
Muthoot Finance CSR – Head, Babu John Malayil welcomed the gathering. Muthoot Group Executive Director, George M George Muthoot, Chalakudy MP, Benny Behanan, who was the Chief Guest of the programme addressed the audience. Ernakulam, Lakeshore Hospital, Neurosurgeon, Dr. Arun Oommen spoke about Muthoot Snehasancharini project.
All Kerala Wheelchair Rights Federation Member, Rajeev Palluruthi, Vadavukode, Puthencruz Grama Panchayat President Sonia Murukesan, Muthoot Institute of Technology & Science Principal, Dr. PC Neelakandan, Ernakulam Regional Manager, Vinod also delivered the felicitation speech. Muthoot Institute of Technology & Science Vice Principal, Dr. Chikku Abraham proposed vote of thanks. This project is being implemented as part of the CSR activities of the Muthoot Group. The project started in 2019 with the distribution of artificial legs to 101 people. The scheme started in Ernakulam district and will later be extended to other districts of Kerala as well.
