The cricket legend Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar awarded the medals to the winners of Spice Coast Marathon held at Kochi. The finishers were also distributed with medals.
All 7000 medals distributed are made from Coir Wood, combination of coir and resin were sponsored by Coir Board, Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. Coir Board is promoting eco-friendly products. Coir wood is one such natural product. Coir wood not only promotes eco friendliness but also help to reverse Global Warming, as Coir Wood is a very good substitute of Wood.
We can make doors, windows, cots, tables, chairs etc from coir wood. Tendulkar admired and appreciated the efforts of coir industry and uniqueness of coir products. Coir Board is the medal partner of the Spice Coast Marathon from its inception. A team from Coir Board participated in the Marathon.
The organizers of the event ‘Souls of Kochi’ and Coir Industry thanked Ram Mohan Mishra Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner MSME and Sudhir Garg, Joint Secretary MSME cum Chairman, Coir Board for sponsoring the coir wood medals, and high lighting the applications of coir through this event.
