Legal Aid Clinics at Nuals

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (Nuals) and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Ernakulam hosted the inauguration of the Nuals Legal Aid Clinic on the 26 th of Sept 2017.
The Clinic was inaugurated by Justice Antony Dominic of the Kerala High Court and Chairman of KeLSA. The dignitaries for the event also included N Anil Kumar, District Judge and Chairman of DLSA, Ernakulam, K Sathyan, District Judge and Member Secretary of KeLSA, Jessy Peter, Chairperson of the Kalamassery Municipal Council, Sajitha Abbas, President of the Edathala Grama Panchayat, and P K Sajeevan, President of the Ernakulam District Bar Association.
The Presidential Address was given by Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Vice Chancellor of Nuals while the vote of thanks was proposed by Namitha K L, Faculty Coordinator of the Nuals Legal Aid Clinic. One of the primary objectives of the Legal Aid Clinic is to provide free legal advice and services to the needy. In pursuance of this, the Clinic has been organizing numerous public awareness programs on legal and fundamental rights and duties. These include legal awareness programs conducted for Kudumbasree members in the Edathala Panchayat and Kalamassery Municipal Corporation areas, socio-legal survey and legal awareness programme in Attapadiand various lessons on constitutional awareness conducted in schools in the Ernakulam district. The Clinic shall now be open to the public at the NUALS Campus on the second Wednesday of every month.
