THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Kerala Labour Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan launched the new state jobs portal, keralastatejobportal.com, a unique single window facility for job-seekers and employers here on Wednesday.
The facility has been conceived and developed by Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE), the umbrella agency for skill development initiatives in the state, leveraging the possibilities of Information Technology, as a pioneering effort to bring together job seekers, employers and other job-providers on single platform.
Social media platform LinkedIn has been integrated into this initiative by KASE.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government will conduct a study to assess setting up skill centres in the state, and will also expand the industrial internship programme.
Ramakrishnan said that KASE, in association with the Labour Commissionerate, will create a Labour Bank that will be linked to the jobs portal. The new portal, he said, “is an opportunity for job seekers to find vacancies from primary level to management level”. “With the launch of the portal, job seekers and job providers will be on the same platform. Vacancies of private firms will also be posted here.”
Tom Jose, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour and Skills, Government of Kerala, delivered the Special Address on the occasion. Dr Sriram Venkitaraman, MD, KASE and Director Employment and Training, who presided over the function, made a presentation highlighting the salient features of the portal at the function.
“In the phase I, employer and employee registration; job fairs; data analysis and job search and application using various parameters will be available. In the second phase, there will be a skill registry; digi locker facility; learning management systems; job portal and skill registry mobile app; and job blogs have been planned for the website,” he explained.
“The public can avail of the services of skilled labourers through this portal. Skilled manpower from the state can register as service providers. Moreover, there will be information regarding trending jobs.”
LinkedIn India Country Head Sehraj Singh elaborated on the association of the networking site LinkedIn with this portal.
C. Prathapmohan Nair, COO, KASE welcomed the gathering. Adv. Rakhi Ravikumar, Deputy Mayor, Thiruvananthapuram was also present. Renuka. K, Manager, (Finance &Administration), KASE proposed a vote of thanks.
The website aims to service all types of qualified persons and job seekers from the state, and abroad. Unlike the usual job portals which address mostly private sector recruitments, the state Job Portal will address all recruitments, including Private, Public sector and semi Government openings, excluding KPSC recruitments.
